Botulinum toxin, whose reputation is well established, is a product launched on the beauty market more than 30 years ago in the USA.

This product, extracted from clostridium botulinum, the tetanus bacteria, has been widely used in neurology since 1970. It is purified under optimal safety conditions and is used to correct expression wrinkles.

Originally, BOTOX® was used in certain very specific medical applications, notably in ENT, ophthalmology, for the treatment of certain spasms, spasmodic torticollis and various muscle contractions due to strokes. This advanced medical experience has led to new applications for BOTOX® and makes it a safe product with perfect handling.

Ten years of hindsight and studies have led to its use in the field of cosmetic surgery without any danger. Its success has literally exploded in the United States in recent years, before spreading throughout the world.

What is BOTOX®?

BOTOX® reduces wrinkles by reducing the contraction of facial muscles. BOTOX® is the trade name for botulinum toxin, which acts on the muscles responsible for wrinkles. BOTOX® injections are most effective on wrinkles on the forehead, on crow's feet and on the lion's wrinkles, between the eyebrows.

When and for how long is the BOTOX® injection effective?

The BOTOX® injection will start to paralyze the muscles after the first 48 hours and its action remains for a few months, 3 to 4 months on average. The advice regarding BOTOX® injections may vary from one patient to another. For some patients, an injection of BOTOX® on the forehead may be enough to erase the signs of aging; for others, BOTOX® must be combined with a filler product.

The doctor's intervention is quick. A few seconds, barely enough time to feel the very fine needle being inserted under the skin, which has been anaesthetized with a cream, and that's it. Wrinkles are treated individually: around the eyes or nose, forehead, eyebrows, crow's feet, corners of the mouth, according to the patient's individual needs and requests.

Easy, fast, without the inconvenience of a general anesthetic or the intervention of a scalpel. No bruises, no marks, you go home relaxed! After two days, those around you will notice that you look younger, more rested, and more fulfilled, without being able to determine the origin of the problem. Exclamations and compliments guaranteed!

These expression wrinkles are caused by intensive use of the subcutaneous muscles (skin muscles). Using BOTOX® allows us to intervene directly on the origin of the problem since it acts by straightening the muscles responsible for the wrinkle's hollowing.

The desired smoothing effect is quickly obtained. The result is spectacular. Your face looks smooth, relaxed, rejuvenated, softened and serene.

BOTOX®

Widely used in aesthetic medicine, botulinum toxin, BOTOX®, acts on the muscles responsible for the formation of wrinkles. BOTOX® reduces the power of contraction, which smoothes the skin, relaxes the face and gives it a younger, less marked appearance.

BOTOX® injection is particularly effective on forehead wrinkles, crow's feet and deep wrinkles between the eyebrows (lion wrinkles).

Effects of BOTOX®

Each area receives an injection of BOTOX® and the effect of blocking muscle contractions begins on the 2nd day. BOTOX® reaches its maximum effect after 15 days, visible for 3 to 4 months. Thanks to the precise action of BOTOX®, the facial expression is not modified. There is no need to worry about a frozen appearance, and few side effects other than a few rare bruises can be noted. BOTOX® injections do not require you to withdraw from social life.

Fillers and BOTOX® injections in Brussels

BOTOX® can be used in combination with a Fillers product to :

> Treat facial wrinkles. This treatment blocks the muscles responsible for wrinkles and puts them to rest. This results in a smoothing of the skin in the treated area. BOTOX® is a completely reversible treatment.

> Treat excessive sweating or hyperhydrosis. BOTOX® has the property of blocking the sweat glands responsible for sweating. It is possible to treat the armpits, hands and feet. The effect lasts for 7 months.

Hyaluronic acid

It is used to erase wrinkles on the face, to plump up the skin, the lips, to improve the loss of volume on the cheekbones and to redraw the oval of the face. Hyaluronic acid is a molecule naturally present in our skin, in the dermis. It helps maintain the skin's hydration and firmness. The products used in Esthetic medicine are in the form of gel. Our skin has the enzyme necessary for its degradation: hyaluronidase. The Fillers products made of pure Hyaluronic acid are therefore completely degraded and eliminated by our body.

Botulinum toxin is recommended for the treatment of deep wrinkles, caused mainly by involuntary muscle contractions (eyelid blinking, frowning, nose wrinkling...). Whether they are called crow's feet, lion's claws or mark the forehead, they are particularly unsightly and give a worried, severe, hard and prematurely marked appearance.

These deep wrinkles, caused mainly by worry, concentration, preoccupation or certain emotions such as anger or laughter, give the impression of premature aging of the face.

Whether you're a man or a woman, this treatment will give you a dramatic facelift and lift your spirits at the same time.

Which wrinkles should be treated with BOTOX®?

Wrinkles located on the forehead, between the eyebrows (lion wrinkles) and on the side of the eyes (crow's feet wrinkles). They are treated when they are visible at rest. The most effective treatment is botulinum toxin type A (BOTOX®). Small doses of BOTOX® are sufficient to reduce the contraction of the muscles responsible for wrinkles. This will reduce the depth of wrinkles and even make them disappear. Each wrinkle has its own muscle, which is why you should have your face treated with Botox by a specialist.

Which wrinkles should be treated with Hyaluronic acid?

All other wrinkles: nasolabial folds, bitterness folds, upper lip wrinkles, corners of the mouth and many other wrinkles. Hyaluronic acid is the ideal treatment for facial wrinkles. The treatment is quick and easy, and you can resume your activities immediately after the treatment. The result is instantaneous, your wrinkles are immediately erased. Hyaluronic acid and BOTOX® can be combined with other treatments (Platelet Rich Plasma, mesotherapy, peeling...) to fight against all the causes of aging and to keep the youngsse capital of your skin.

Botulinum toxin can be injected from the age of 18. Very few cases of dissatisfaction have been observed despite its extremely widespread use throughout the world. Given the virulence of the product (it is a very active toxin in its natural state), all safety conditions have been met at their highest level. The concentration of the toxin has been reduced by at least a thousand times, in order to be used in micro doses. In comparison, to achieve total paralysis of the body, a dose of 25 to 30 vials of botulinum toxin would have to be injected into a 70kg person.

Over time, it has been discovered that botulinum toxin has other interesting curative properties, notably in the case of certain migraines, certain types of obesity and enuresis. Studies are underway. Some people may use this treatment to solve a delicate and embarrassing problem of excessive sweating (in this case the intervention is done under the armpits to act directly on the sweat glands).

This type of treatment does not act on fine lines caused by the sun or smoking, nor on sagging or drooping of the epidermis; other measures are possible in these cases.

The treatment is not recommended for pregnant or breastfeeding women, as a precaution, due to the lack of further studies. It is also recommended that you do not take aspirin or anti-inflammatory drugs for 10 days before treatment.

You make an appointment with the aesthetic doctor. During this first meeting, you will decide on the areas to be treated and you will set the date for the procedure.

On the day of the procedure, you will be greeted warmly and then installed. The doctor prepares the mini syringe filled with botulinum toxin, disinfects the area to be treated, and then numbs it locally with a cream. The injection is done in a few seconds. The operation is repeated according to the number of wrinkles to be treated. The visible effects are seen within 48 to 72 hours after the treatment, with a maximum effect after 15 days. The wrinkles are much less visible.

A follow-up visit is recommended to assess progress and to possibly rebalance the treatment. Then, very gradually, the product is deactivated and eliminated. It is recommended that you repeat the procedure after about four months. After a few sessions, the muscles become less active and the wrinkles disappear more permanently. The muscle that has been atrophied for four months will gradually awaken. The muscles of the face will always keep a minimal tone.

Some patients would also like a brightening of the eyes. This is possible on request, but requires a more specific technique.

Given the various possibilities, it is very difficult to establish a fixed price, as it depends on the techniques used. The price of a BOTOX® session for a specific area of the face is available upon request.
